The Shiringa Shoes
The shiringa or rubber tree grows wild in the Amazon rainforest. In our case, its milky sap, called latex, is extracted by hand and turned into rubber sheets. Many indigenous communities obtain latex in this way in a traditional, sustainable way without decimating the population.
The rainforest and the Shiringa have long been destroyed by humans for latex production. Now the rubber tree is once again the hope of the forest and the people.
MAQU presents its first vegan shoe, which is made by hand in Peru.
