Maqu also processes selected and sometimes very old remnants for small series.

We use almost all of the fabrics and use them to produce individual items in an upcycling process, which are then sold in our store. In addition to comfort, we pay attention to the durability of the clothing and repair defects in our studio.

Maqu also uses what is available in addition to offcuts. This applies to all the equipment in our rooms. We purchase green electricity from Green Planet Energy and use only the most effective lighting technologies.

Shipping is climate-neutral and plastic-free like our clothing in boxes made from recycled paper and uses the GoGreen option to offset the CO2 emissions of transportation.

Sustainability at Maqu

We always use the most sustainable and resource-conserving of all available options for all work steps.

Maqu evaluates each substance individually depending on its origin, extraction and application. Ecological, ethical, social and regional aspects are included in the assessment.

For our collections, we mainly use organically grown and GOTS-certified organic cotton and Lyocell/Tencel, whose fibers are based on cellulose obtained from wood, as well as hemp.

In winter, we offer models made from sheep and alpaca wool from traditional, sustainable farming. The herds have free range, which prevents the destruction of grassland and erosion. The animals are naturally part of the herding family and are treated with respect.
