Marisa Fuentes Prado's journey to design the latest collection began in Peru in 2016.

In the South American country, the label's designer came across the 4000-year-old ribbon and knot writing of the Incas, called Quipu. In Berlin, she was able to view the world's largest closed collection of quipus in the Ethnological Museum and was inspired by the ancient, mysterious works of art.

This fascinating system of different animal hairs, which were further dyed and knotted, was used by the Incas until the 16th century.

The designer began experimenting with cotton ropes, tying knots and incorporating them as features of clothing and footwear. While the Incas relied on these "talking knots" for counting and record keeping, Marisa brought this wisdom from the past into the present with this new collection.

Maqu develops his own deeply rooted language into laces and ribbons.

The Quipu collection was designed with a nautical color palette. Its playful mix of lightweight materials such as Tencel (Lyocell), organic cotton, organic poplin and cotton jersey creates a range of minimalist garments with asymmetric cuts. Quipu is an intimate journey. It is an open door to rediscovery and exploration.

As part of Peru's vibrant creative scene, the collection was on display at the NEO PERUVIAN DESIGN Pop-Up Showroom No. 1 in Berlin-Mitte in the summer of 2018, generating enthusiasm among visitors and whetting the appetite for summer even more.
